Ra Finishes

Most finishes can have their surface measured in microns. Usually on abrasives finishes produced with either aluminium oxide or silicon carbide the Ra is measured across the unidirectional grain. This is a more precise way of determining surface roughness than requesting a generic or grit finish

The substrate, the production route and the amount of pre-grinding affect the final Ra measurement so please bear this in mind if you are having different products polished.
